Financial District
The Financial District fondly referred to as FiDi, is a bustling neighborhood situated in the heart of Boston. It boasts high-rise buildings and historic landmarks that have shaped the city's economic landscape. This vibrant district has something for everyone, from tourists looking to explore the city's history to professionals working in the financial sector.
Location
The Financial District is located in Downtown Boston, bordered by Congress Street to the north, Atlantic Avenue to the east, Milk Street and Devonshire Street to the south, and Downtown Crossing to the west. It is a central hub for business and commerce in Boston and is easily accessible by public transportation.
History
Originally settled as a residential area in the 1630s, the Financial District underwent significant development during the mid-19th century with the construction of grand office buildings, banks, and stock exchanges. Today, it remains a major financial center, home to some of the country's largest banks and financial institutions
Activities
The Financial District is a bustling hub of activity during the workweek as thousands of people come here for business each day. But there is also plenty to do and see outside of business hours. You can take a stroll through the picturesque Post Office Square, visit the iconic Custom House Tower, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants and cafes in the area.
Nearby Attractions
One of the best things about the Financial District is its proximity to other popular Boston attractions. Just steps away from Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, you can easily explore the city's history and culture while in the neighborhood. Other popular nearby attractions include the New England Aquarium, Boston Harbor, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway.
