Boston Common

Boston Common is a scenic and historic park located in downtown Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1634, it is the oldest public park in the United States and has been an integral part of Boston's history for centuries.

Location

Boston Common is situated in the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. Beacon Street borders it to the north, Charles Street to the west, Tremont Street to the south, and Park Street to the east. The park is easily accessible by public transportation and is within walking distance of many popular attractions.

History

Originally used as a common grazing area for local livestock in the 17th century, Boston Common has played a significant role in American history. It was the site of many political protests, including the British occupation during the American Revolution and Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous anti-war speech in 1965.

Activities

Boston Common offers a wide range of activities for all ages and interests. From strolls through the picturesque landscapes to picnics on the sprawling lawns, there is something for everyone to enjoy. During the summer months, visitors can also take advantage of free concerts and movie screenings at the Parkman Bandstand.

Nearby Attractions

One of the best things about Boston Common is its proximity to other popular attractions in the city. Just a short walk away, you will find the famous Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall Marketplace, and the State House. You can also catch a glimpse of the iconic Swan Boats at the nearby Public Garden.
